We want to ensure that you have enough time to enjoy your day and do not feel pressured or rushed at any stage throughout the day. Speak to your wedding coordinator and they will be able to guide you through the whole process. The most important thing to remember is that THIS IS YOUR DAY!

14:15 – Arrival of guests
You don’t want your guests to arrive too early but you want to allow enough time in case there is any unexpected traffic. You may wish to request your guests to arrive even earlier if you plan to arrive by wedding car so that your guests don’t see the bride before the ceremony. The venue will always assist guests who are late and attempt to delay any proceedings so that your day runs smoothly for you. During the arrival of the guests the groom will need to spend 15 minutes with your registrars. Our bar will be open for your guests all day so this is the perfect time to get a quick refreshment. If you wish we can provide an arrival drink or maybe even a signature wedding cocktail for your guests to enjoy whilst you are getting ready?

14:45 – Guests seated ready
After your guests have had chance to get to reunite old friendships and form new ones we will ask them to be seated in the garden (for outdoor ceremonies) or in the banqueting hall (for indoor ceremonies). During this time the bride will be required to meet with the registrars before the final preparations. The registrar will then make their way over the ceremony and introduce themselves and the order of service to your guests.

15:00 – Ceremony
Your Sheene Mill Wedding Coordinator will let the bride know when everyone is ready and in position. You may chose to have readings from special guests or from the registrar during your ceremony. Don’t forget to provide us with four or five of your favourite tracks to play at the end of the ceremony whilst your guests are taking pictures of your signing the register. Please remember that the sooner you contact the registrar and confirm your date and time the more likely you are to get your desired timings.

15:30 – Reception Drinks & Canapes
Following your ceremony our team will greet all of your guests with any chosen drinks and canapes. This is a fantastic moment for all of your guests to give you both a proper congratulations!

16:00 – Photo Opportunities
Your chosen photographer will take this opportunity to take some family and group shots. They will also want to take some more intimate shots of your both whilst your other guests are ushered into the dining room. Be sure to give your photographer a list of any specially important shots that you want before the big day. You will be overwhelmed with excitement and might forget on the day that special photo with a distant relative. At Sheene Mill we encourage all of our brides and grooms to explore the venue and get as many photographs as they wish. It is YOUR special day don’t forget!

17:00 – Wedding Breakfast & Speeches
You make choose to have all your guests sat before you arrive to a big cheer, or you may wish to form a receiving line. Whichever you do is entirely up to you but we do recommend receiving lines to be for the smaller weddings as a long queue can form quite rapidly as Uncle Bob decides to tell you his life story! The flow and the order of the wedding breakfast is entirely up to you. Some couples prefer to do the speeches first to get rid of any nerves and some like to leave their guests waiting in anticipation. We have microphones and discreet ceiling speakers so that all of your guests can hear you clearly – just remember to hold the microphone near to your mouth.

19:00 – Evening Guest Arrival
If you are having evening guests then between 19:00 and 19:30 is usually a great time so that they don’t have to wait long until you emerge from your wedding breakfast. You may decide to provide an arrival drink for your evening guests to make them feel extra special? We can also arrange for evening canapes for your guests – just speak to your wedding coordinator. Whilst you are enjoying a good chat with your guests the venue will start to come alive with DJ equipment, photo booths, sweetie carts  and everything else you may have organised. Some of our couple wish to set up a bar account for their guests – just let us know and we can arrange this for you.

20:00 – First Dance & Cake Cutting
Again, you can choose when you would like these to happen. We usually recommend the cake cutting early so that our team can portion this up for your guests to enjoy later. And having your first dance early in the night guarantees that all your family and friends will be ready on the dance floor to start the party off in style. Some nice touches we’ve seen are a father and daughter dance.

00:00 – Carriages Await
By midnight your guests will be thoroughly fed and watered… and will also be exhausted from such a fun-packed and love-filled day. For any guests staying at the venue, it is just a short walk up the stairs to their residence for the night. For guests staying elsewhere we can arrange taxis for. Some larger weddings sometimes organise mini busses to take guests to certain drop off locations.
